After Vicki Davis mentioned your post on her blog, I just had to check it out because I had just blogged about the same topic a few weeks ago on my blog. And then it hit me - you must have been in the other section of the U. of Alberta's EDES 501! I'm so glad to have found you since I know that if your section was anything like my section, there's lots of great information about using Web 2.0 in schools and libraries. I can't wait to get reading!

Like you I'm trying to continue my blogging at the end of the course so I appreciate all the blogging tips you've listed. I am currently trying to find a more suitable name for my blog because I want to be able to expand my topics much like you've mentioned in your post. Developing a mission statement for my blog sounds like the best way to go. Thanks for suggesting it!

Jo-Anne

p.s. If you'd like to check out my blog and those of my classmates in EDES 501, go to: www.jagibson19.wordpress.com

I think your list is great! You have a lot of great things that will move your blog forward.

I think it is also to remember the importance of keeping balance. I have told my family that I often have to remember that I am a human who blogs not a blogger who humans. The times I've been happiest with myself and my blog are when I relax and just blog as I want to and not stress out too much over it. These consistent habits, however, will help you do and be more!

Thanks, Cynthia....I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one with tears in my eyes by the end of your post. What a thoughtful and generous way to conclude your final assignment for this course...I hope you find a way to share your enthusiasm and energy about web 2.0 (even if it isn't about YouTube!) with your former colleagues. I look forward to reading more about your adventures in web 2.0 in the weeks ahead!

Hi Cynthia,

What a great final post. Thanks for summing up what we all contributed to your learning. I know that I will definitely be coming back to everyone's blog for information and resources. I just wanted to let you know that I also will not be in EDES 545 next semester (no prep block = no time). Hopefully, I will 'see' you in EDES 545 next September.

Your carefully selected quotes coupled with your kind thoughts and remarks brought tears to my eyes. You've truly articulated the tremendous accomplishment we've all made. I still can't believe I made it! I gasped when I found out we won't be studying together next semester, but love that you'll be blogging and that we can stay connected through the blogosphere. Did you ever imagine this shift in teaching and learning? These are exciting times.

Until we "meet" again,
Rhonda

Thanks, Cynthia. I really like the notion of professional learning, rather than professional development. You have listed some very reasonable and exciting ideas for promoting this kind of professional learning in any school!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on professional development vs professional learning and the model used successfully in your school Cynthia. I think I've been able to interest some staff in my school to look at learning related to the New Literacies. I'll be coming back to this blog again often.

Hi Cynthia,

Your post is packed with useful, practical tips on integrating Web 2.0 in schools. I couldn't agree with you more about the dangers of 'top down' pro-d. Our school is moving more toward a model of 'find the experts right here in your building', which has been quite effective. I will definitely be coming back to your blog when building my grassroots case for Web 2.0 tools in our school. Thanks!
